Breezy Point to Host Local Artists Outdoor Art Exhibit

Louis Delsarte

GREENWOOD LAKE, NY, January 10, 2011 – The Village of Greenwood Lake will now be home to “Greenwood Lake Greetings” a unique outdoor art exhibit featuring works by local artists, Louis Delsarte and Gad Nusinov.   The installation features digitally printed, oversized reproductions (6’6” tall x 6’6” wide) of Delsarte’s Greenwood Lake and Nusinov’s Fall as well as a dedication panel.  This project was conceived, directed and produced by area resident Melanie Gold with the mission of providing a warm and inviting welcome to those entering Greenwood Lake from New Jersey.   The panels will be hung on the exterior of a local wall paper factory at 673 Jersey Avenue.  A public reception will be held on Saturday, February 5 from 3pm – 5pm at Breezy Point Inn, 620 Jersey Avenue.

The chosen works were selected by a committee from community submissions.  “This project has truly been a labor of love,” says Ms. Gold.  “We reviewed many wonderful pieces of art and are thrilled that the works of Delsarte and Nusinov will represent the beauty of Greenwood Lake.”

“I spent my childhood in Greenwood Lake and have wonderful memories of that time,” said Delsarte.  “In this piece I wanted to capture the beauty of those simple times of the summer around the lake.” The original work, Greenwood Lake, is mixed media collage and acrylic and 36″ x 24″.

Nusinov’s Fall captures the tranquility of the lake at the height of fall foliage season.   “I was inspired by the crimson leaves of Sterling Forest on the east bank of the lake that are an annual festival of color which should not be missed,” said this resident artist.  The original work is oil and 50″ x 50″.

In addition to celebrating the lake, the project celebrates a beloved community member and supporter of the arts, Trustee Agnes T. Kilduff, who passed away in November after a lengthy battle with cancer.  Agnes was known for her cheery disposition and despite her illness she would often remark “at least I look good!”   Now her spirit is embodied in this community art exhibit.

This project is made possible, in part, with funds from Orange County Tourism, the County of Orange, and countless contributions from local businesses and supporters.  Special thanks to Community 2000 Warwick and the Orange County Arts Council for being catalysts in the success of this project.
